SPARK SUMMER CAMP 2023

9am-3pm
Ages 5-10
$500 per week

June 19-23: Natural Crafting From Around the World
We will be making baskets, candles, weaving with bark, creating toys and tools using found materials and much more.

June 26-30: Textile Arts From Around the World
Weave with textiles, bundle dye with natural materials on silks, create naturally dyed wall hangings, and more.

July 10-14: Building Homes Around The World
We’ll be exploring different kinds of homes from around the world, such as Mongolian yurts, Kenyan manyattas, Honai homes in Indonesia and more. Our students will create immersive worlds as well as miniature ones using a variety of materials.

We are excited to welcome families back for our 6th year of Spark summer camp! Spark Arts uses creative arts to introduce students to the rich traditions of the world. Once again, Spark will be bringing the world to your child right here in Brooklyn during our 3 summer weeks together. We will be fully immersed in art activities, nature exploration, and cultural discovery! As we have limited spaces, we would like to give priority to families who are able to attend for entire weeks without skipping days. Since Spark Arts is an arts oriented program, please ensure that your child enjoys art before signing up for our program. At Spark, we will also be learning about plants and trees in our park, including how to identify them and how they have been regarded and used by different cultures.

We will also have several spots available for Junior Counselors: responsible veteran Spark students older than 10 who would like to act as leading community members and helpers for half the price while also participating in all of our activities!

We will be running our program out of our classroom space at the beautiful Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture, at 53 Prospect Park West. In addition, we will be spending afternoons exploring Prospect Park. These classes will be taught by Gigi and assistant teacher, Mae Monga.
