Bushcraft relates to a set of practical skills for surviving and thriving in the wild. Bushcraft skills allow one to be self-sufficient in nature and craft items in the wild for survival purposes. Many of these are techniques are rooted in traditional knowledge passed down through generations across cultures.
In these courses in Prospect Park, kids aged 6-9 will learn to:
Identify key edible plants
Harvest water from trees and plants
Filter and purify water
Start a fire safely
Make basic tools (cordage, containers, cutting tools and more)
Construct traps, snares and fishing tools
Make various types of shelters for different seasons
This class will require some walking.
Dates: Wednesdays, Sept 10th – Oct 22nd, 2025. No class on Sept 24th (DOE Rosh Hashanah Break), 6 classes

Time: 3:15-5:30pm
Location: Drop off and pick up at 9th street entrance at Prospect Park. On rainy days we will meet indoors at the Collective Kind Preschool’s space at 428 7th ave.
