Tuesdays, 3:30 – 5:30pm
Sept 20 – Nov 8th (8 weeks)
Oct 4th’s class will be held outdoors in Prospect Park
As we investigate the importance of dreams to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece, Tibet, China, the Arabic world and beyond, we will also explore the surreal and visionary art of more modern influential artists such as Dali, Bosch, Kandinsky, Lecomte du Nouy, Odilon Redon, Miro, Klee, Robert Venosa, William Blake, and Carl Jung. We will develop stories, symbolism, characters, landscapes and worlds and students may experiment with various artistic techniques such as sculpting, collaging, resists, color gradation, acrylic pouring, salt watercolor painting, and marbling to create fantastic and dreamlike effects.
